Okay so I reblogged this somewhat uncritically at first I’ll admit. I remembered that media is going to attempt to turn actors into people that we can turn against. Despite his… Previous behaviors I wanted to be 100% sure. So here is his comments from Instagram on what he said:

Also here’s a link to the previous behaviors in question

Now you can see here he is just saying striking is something he does not like and he expects to be present on the picket line.

HOWEVER

He has already crossed the picket line. As many are aware SAG-AFTRA has called for all union members to STOP promotion and events. This includes social media promotion. For his show, Heels, new season he did this:

So not only has he promoted the show on social media, and done so in a way that shows that he clearly knows what he is doing. BUT he also attended a convention which if you look it up was 100% AFTER the union call to cut event attendance. AKA something DIRECTLY in opposition to his union’s strike requirements. If you check their website you can see it is one of the immediate things that is seen as a call to arms for striking actors.

To attend this convention and sign autographs and do promotion for the show with his attendance is a CLEAR CUT violation of the union rules for the strike. Full-stop right there, he’s a Scab 100%. No “he maybe had to do it to survive!!” Nick Cage has a crippling dinosaur bone addiction and somehow managed to stay the picket line soooo. Fuck Amell right there. Not to mention the people losing their homes and what not. He had a choice and he made it, scab right there. But I’ll continue because it’s kind of fun to rip him to shreds.

To promote his show on social media was to cross the picket line, to do so in this little “haha I’m not promoting it, it just happened to be there!” Bullshit way was a spit in the face of his union leadership and his fellow union members. ESPECIALLY combined with the fact that he promoted it at a convention with his attendance, and clearly in the timeframe of the strike.

You may be saying, “Maybe he’s really dumb and thought this was okay!” In regards to his social media posts. Okay sure but at best he thought it was wrong because he purposefully went out of his way to misdirect what he was doing. But hey I’ll give you that, maybe he’s the most braindead guy ever.

Except for this:

image

He was fully aware. He was told. He was informed. He continued to make this decision. If he shows on a picket line I highly suspect he will not be welcomed as a studio exec would not be welcomed. I hope they fully rescind his union leadership. The replies to the tweet are him defending his actions, to which the other replies with the gif in which he becomes big cry baby Jane about.

This is also COMPLETELY ignoring the Jordan Peterson retweet where he is happily saying he must be offensive to “think” which is just…. Well a defense for the braindead thing I’ll give you that. But the main message here is this:

Stephen Amell is 100% unmistakably and unapologetically a scab, and this is not just BS propaganda. May his union membership be revoked with prejudice.

A Starbucks cafe in south Calgary has made history in Alberta, becoming the first of the chain to unionize in the province and the second in the country.

The United Steelworkers (USW) announced a three-year collective agreement on Friday after workers at the Millrise Centre location voted to accept the contract on Thursday.

“Reaching this deal is such a ground-breaking achievement for us because it does not just benefit the Starbucks workers in Calgary, it sets a precedent for all Starbucks workers as well as the broader coffee industry,” Jacob Dickenscheid, USW Local 1-207 bargaining committee member, said in a statement.

The union said during the bargaining process, it was able secure improved working conditions, better job security, dispute resolution processes and wage increases: five per cent upon ratification and an additional five more per cent in the next two years. […]

not to harp back to a few days ago but the whole “taking phone calls in public/loud music in public/playing music and videos outloud in public is rude etc. (the list could go on)” argument is not only absurd,

(not all public spaces are going to be silent its is unrealistic, outside cannot cater to every single person as everybody has different needs, but this is not me dismissing there are concerns for people who may have sensory ‘issues’ or may be bothered by loud sounds)

but has ties to racism and classism, especially considering that many nonblack and white people call the police about “noise complaints” on black and brown people and poor people because the music being played at a party is 'too loud’ or music from a car is being played 'too loud’, which leads to them getting arrested or killed.

It also has links to gentrification, it is known that people who do complain about a community being too loud are clearly not familiar with the cultures in that area and that loud noise being a nuisance is a clear sign you are coming into a culture that isn’t yours

anyway i think some of you need to read the article linked because the influx of these types of arguments is concerning.

Question for people who use screen readers or text to speech/audio

When a post on here has lots of emojis, special fonts/text or lots of keysmashes, what is a way to tag those posts so that you guys don’t have to sit there listening to nonsense for a minute straight?

Thanks!

the best tag in my opinion would be “screenreader unsafe” !! and i would deeply appreciate things like that being tagged whenever possible , because … it fully crashes cheaper screenreaders like mine and i have to restart it >_<

Is there a limit of emojis or bigger fonts (the headline font, not fancy fonts) that’s acceptable for cheap screen readers, or has everything the potential of crashing it?

Asking because my screen reader reads headline fonts and bolded words just fine, and I use them to make my posts accessible for people who can’t read long texts. So if a little is alright, but I unnecessarily tagged it as dangerous, I think this could be quite annoying…

Same for emojis, I rarely use more than two in a row and was thinking of adding something in brackets that describes the emojis right before the emojis start, so that the screen reader could warn you that you’ll hear some nonsense and tells you what kind of emojis are used before the nonsense starts.

This wouldn’t make sense if it immediately breaks cheap screen readers, that’s why I ask.

actual web fonts dont effect my screenreader at all personally !! bolded or otherwise emphasized text in posts just reads as normal text , and theres no difference between how my screenreader reads arial and how it reads comic sans

for emojis , it depends on the emojis being used , because its that it tries to read the emoji names as fast as possible for some dumbass reason — so longer emoji names make it crash faster . id say it can handle about five to seven emojis in a row , before getting upset . if theres text in between them , for example a period , it can handle it fine !!

those ugly unicode fonts from fancy font generator sites also dont immediately crash my screenreader — it can take about ten unicode characters at once before crashing — but hearing “mathematical fraktur capital E , mathematical fraktur capital M , mathematical fraktur capital I , mathematical fraktur capital L , mathematical fraktur capital Y” is the most obnoxious thing ever and makes me block people 😭

Alright, thanks!

self is use different screen readers for different devices ( phone , ipad , computer ) and is agree with all above

but need people understand that All Screen Reader Different .

self is have one that just skip skip paragraph for no reason and no know why ,
have another one that force stop at bold word and need press play at spot again . have another that no do it
some can read out abbreviation like “brb” as “be right back” , some dont

and pretty much all screen reader self use , alt text directly on image is Never Read never work , is hate tumblr alt text ,
self feel best put as image description under picture as regular text

is Extremely Important know that screen reader Not Work All Text Same .
and self use all free screen reader that come with device accessible setting ( phone ipad ) or extension on web browser (computer )

screen reader not one thing ,
is come across time self say about inacessible text that because someone want help so self say “self screen reader can read headers , but no all screen reader can”
and person took it as “ok then all is fine no need change self still accessible !!” like wh ,, frustrate .

self Is Agree with all above , just want people know screen reader not monolith like many think , diverse like mobility aids (and most very janky ahaha) some work some dont with thing
